Pastoral care

Pastoral Care

The school has recently appointed two part-time chaplains under the Federal Government’s National School Chaplaincy Programme.

This programme is a Federal Government-funded initiative aimed at supporting school’s which wish to access the services of a school chaplain to support the spiritual wellbeing of their students.

The boys’ chaplain, John Bentley, is available at the school each Thursday while girls’ chaplain, Helen Massey, is available on Tuesday and Thursday of alternate weeks.

Parents and students can arrange appointments or simply approach the office on the day.

Each teacher on the staff also has a Pastoral Care Group which is made up of students from years 7-12. They meet daily for devotions from 8.40-9.00am.

All staff members are available to talk over problems or concerns about school or any other matters, with students and parents.

It is school policy that parents approach teachers directly about concerns in the expectation that they will be worked out at that level. However, the executive is available to deal with issues if required.

Student Prayer Group

This is a group run by the students with the support of teachers. The group meets twice a week for prayer and fellowship. These students outreach into the school through assemblies and devotion times. They also outreach into the community with services in outlying areas such as Comboyne.

The students have been on Mini Missions to Wee Waa in previous years where they have run a support program in the little school there. Students have also had supervised camps and sleep-overs to spend time with each other in prayer and Bible study.

In 2007 our inaugural mission trip to Normanton, Queensland took place. A small group of Year 9-10 students headed to far north Queensland to spend some time in a small Christian school and visit some well known landmarks on the way.

This was a great experience for the students and allowed them to develop their relationships with one another and grow in their relationship with God.

The Prayer Group actively supports the Parliamentary Prayer Network and brings the needs of all levels of Government to the Lord in prayer.

Parent Prayer Group

Parents and grandparents of existing and past students meet each Thursday morning between 9 and 10am at the school to pray for teachers, staff and the wider community.

New parents and grandparents are most welcome.

BIBLE PASSAGE

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ."
