Our staff
The staff at Heritage Christian School is made up of committed Christians, each of whom are active members of their local churches and the wider Christian community.
Although HCS is a non-denominational school, staff members share a firm belief in Christ as our Lord and Saviour and that faith underpins all of our activities and teaching within the school.
The teaching staff here consists of a group of about 30 incredibly talented and experienced teachers from a variety of cultural and social backgrounds. Together they have more than 200 years teaching experience across a wide variety of subjects.
All staff members have also undergone the necessary working with children background checks and are well-qualified in their respective fields. They also undergo regular training to keep their knowledge current and relevant.
Some of our teachers are:
Mr Craig Hindley
Subjects: Primary (Years 2,3,4,5,6)
Qualifications: Bachelor of Education
Teaching experience: 10 years
“I believe that teaching is not merely an occupation but rather a ministry that God has called me to. This gives me great satisfaction and confidence as He will guide and support me through any situation that may arise here at the school.
As a Christian teacher I believe that I have to model my life on Jesus’ example and if we want out students to be more like Christ, we need to lead by example.
It has been a privilege for me to experience Heritage Christian School as both a student (From Year 4 – 12) and a teacher.”
Mr John Hopkins
Subjects: Agriculture, Science, Biology and Physics
Qualifications: Diploma of Applied Science (Agriculture), Diploma of Education
Teaching experience: 25 years
“I firmly believe that Jesus is Lord of everything … even though it may seem, on the surface, that teaching science may conflict with this belief.
Yes, high school syllabi and text books may say virtually nothing about God, but what I do is convert it.
I strive to come from a literal belief in God’s Word and flow into the study of living things. Our studies also draw strongly from common sense without avoiding the more technical side of biological science. All this, while still meeting the precise syllabus outcomes as prescribed by the NSW Board of Studies.”
Mrs Neroli Jackson
Subjects: Secondary English, French and Maths
Qualifications: B Education, Dip Primary Teaching
Teaching experience: 16 years
“I was six years old when I first decided to become a teacher. I had a teacher who didn’t understand me and I wanted to be the kind of teacher who could see the child’s point of view. I love working at Heritage where I have the opportunity to educate the whole person and where social, emotional, physical and spiritual values are equally important.”
Mrs Nola McGrath
Subjects: Special programs K-4
Qualifications: Diploma in Teaching – General Primary
Teaching experience: 27 years
“I am always amazed and excited at seeing the progress students make each year. I love being able to involve God in my teaching by showing His love to my students and praying for and with them. One of my favourite verses to encourage them is Philippians 4:13; “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength”.
Mr Steve Mantle
Subjects: Secondary English, Advanced English, Ancient History
Qualifications: Bachelor of Arts (Honours Class 1), Graduate Diploma Education
Teaching experience:
“I am passionate about teaching and preparing my students to be powerfully literate young people who can use their voices, their words and their writing to impress, persuade, communicate and achieve their goals.
The motivation of the English faculty here at HCS is to provide this sound academic learning with a Christian perspective so our graduates can be informed, productive and caring members of society.”
