Secondary Subjects

Subjects Years 7 – 8

Students in Years 7 and 8 are given a broad education encompassing several subjects which enables them to gain experience in studying many different areas and determine their God-given talents.

Subject areas include:

• Personal Development, Health & Physical Education
• Music
• Visual Arts
• Design & Technology
• Japanese Language
• Sport

Subjects Years 9 – 10
Students in Years 9 and 10 continue to study a wide range of core subjects, although they can now exercise some of their own choices with elective subjects.

Core subjects include:

• Bible and Life
• English
• Mathematics (Advanced, Intermediate and Standard)
• Science
• History
• Geography
• Personal Development, Health & Physical Education
• Sport

Elective courses

The Board of Studies requires that Year 9 and 10 students spend 400 hours of study on elective subjects.
Most students will fulfil this by studying two elective courses over two years which equates to six lessons per fortnight.

By combining Year 9 and 10 students in our electives, we are able to offer a wider range of subjects.

Visual Art
Wood Technology

Students may select new electives for Year 10 or continue their studies in the same subjects through Years 9 and 10. Students are advised to choose the subjects in which they have a natural ability or interest.

Subjects Years 11-12

As students prepare for the HSC and their life beyond school, Heritage Christian School aims to cement their faith in Jesus Christ as well as arm them with the necessary skills to set forth into the world.

The subjects on offer for Year 11 and 12 include:
