Cross Country / Fun Run

Our annual Cross Country AND Fun Run will be held together on Friday, 10 May at Wayne Richards Park, on Koala Street, Port Macquarie.  Kindy to 12 students will be participating and this will run from 12noon to 2:45pm (WHOLE SCHOOL EVENT).

WE WELCOME ALL PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS AND FRIENDS TO WATCH.  IF YOU CAN VOLUNTEER SOME OF YOUR TIME TO ASSIST, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!

We are seeking a full-time Receptionist, to commence employment in May.  You may have years of experience or no experience, either way you are qualified to apply!  Please refer to our Positions Vacant section on the Website (click on "Why Heritage" above, then "Staff/Employment") for more details and an application package.

Work Experience!

Year 10 students have an exciting week coming up.  We have half our Year 10 attending a service Camp in Wee Waa and half will be taking part in local Work Experience for the week.  We pray that all our Year 10's have an awesome time!

IMMUNISATIONS-YRS 7 & 9

Wednesday, 3 April

Our scheduled immunisations day (21 March) was post-poned as the Clinic Nurses were not able to reach the school due to a car accident blocking the Pacific Highway at Kempsey.

Please note the new date above for the first of three doses this year for Years 7 & 9 only.



Health Careers Forum

For those students in Years 10, 11 & 12 who are interested in attending - Mrs Lance (Careers Advisor) and Mr Kew (Year 11-12 Coordinator) will be supervising this annual visit.  This is a great opportunity for students to discover pathways and see "what it's really like" to work in health fields

Heritage is priveleged to have renowned Textiles Artist, Gloria Muddle, visit with the school to demonstrate her skills with the Year 9/10 Textiles students between 9am-10am in Mrs Weatherstone's classroom.

Immunisations (Yrs 7 & 9)

Years 7 & 9 will be having their Immunisations (first Dose) on Wed, 20 March when the Clinic Nurses visit the school.  Please locate your child's Blue Book before they visit so that registration of this visit can be recorded in the back.

Due to a significant amount of floodwater in a number of areas across the school site, the school is being closed to student attendance on

MONDAY, 25 FEBRUARY

The school staff will attempt to keep parents informed throughout tomorrow as to what the situation will be on Tuesday.  Tomorrow (Monday, 25 February) a decision will be made shortly after lunch and this will be communicated to parents via SCHOOL WEBSITE, radio station ABC and where the school has current mobile phone information for parents, via text message.  If parents have any concerns regarding the situation for Tuesday, they can also contact the school after 12noon tomorrow.  We apologise for the inconvience that this is going to cause our school families, however, the safety and well-being of your children is our highest priority.



ZONE Swimming Carnival

We have been notified that the ZONE Swimming Carnival, due to take place on Friday, 22 February, has been POSTPONED due to flood threats.

We will advise students & parents/carers once we have been given a new date.



"Surf Life Saving Boardies Day" - Fri, 22 February

ALL STUDENTS (Kindy - Yr 12) can wear their favourite pair of board shorts, their SPORTS SHIRT, and bring a GOLD COIN DONATION, if they wish to participate in this fundraiser for a very worthy cause - Surf Life Saving.

Duke of Edinburgh

Parent Information Night

Wed, 6 February @

School Library (5pm-7pm)

Notes are being sent home to parents of Year 9 & 10 DoE students, inviting them to a Parent Information Night, explaining the details and committment expected of their child, being involved in this program.

Light refreshments will be served and RSVP slips need to be returned to the School Office for catering.



School Swimming Carnival

(Year 3 - Year 12)  @

Wauchope Swimming Pool

THURSDAY, 31 JANUARY

Our annual Swimming Carnival (Years 3 - 12) will be held the FIRST Thursday of Term 1 and is a full-day event (8:55am - 2:15pm).  Students will be transported via coach (from and back to school) on the day.  Permission Notes will be posted out to all families the week prior to this event, with all details.

Students are to wear either their House Colours OR Sports Uniform.

Presentation & Awards Ceremony @ Panthers Club

We hope you will join us for our Annual Presentation & Awards evening.  This will be a night to celebrate student acheivements, talents, service and to celebrate the closing of the 2012 year.  There will be prizes awarded, Reports handed out, Band items, and much more!

Years 5 and 6 students will celebrate the end of their year studies with a day at T's Tennis Centre in Mumford Street with fun activities planned (swimming, tennis & volleyball).




Year 5/6 Social

Thurs, 6 December (5:00pm - 7:45pm)

@ The Woolshed (HCS)

Year 5 and 6 students will be having their end-of-year Social at school in the Woolshed this Thursday.  Cost is $5 per student (covers entry fee, pizza and soft drink).  Dress is smart-casual.



Duke of Ed (Bronze Award)

Students in New Zealand

Mon, 3 - Tue, 11 Dec

Ten of our Duke of Edinburgh students and 4 adult supervisors had a safe flight over to New Zealand yesterday.  They have already completed 20klms of hiking on their first day and celebrated a birthday!  We pray they all complete their qualifying hiking treks safely and make lasting memories while they are overseas.




Volunteers Morning Tea

Year 10 Progression Formal

5:30pm @ Woolshed

Wednesday, 28 November

Our Year 10 Class of 2013 will be celebrating with a Progression Formal, commencing with a ceremony in the Woolshed @ 5:30pm, followed by cocktails in the Secondary Courtyard.  If you have not booked and paid ($15 per head) for catering purposes, please do so now at the School Office.  This will be an awesome night to celebrate our wonderful Yr 10 students!



Duke of Edinburgh Award

Training Hike/Camp

26 Nov - 27 Nov

PASS and Duke of Ed students are participating in a Training Hike in the local State Forest, a camp out at Stoney Park and kayak paddle down the Hastings River.  This trip is a qualifier for some students for their Bronze Award and training for other students who will be participating in their qualifying trip to New Zealand next week.

Orientation Day

Tuesday, 13 November

We invite students commencing Kindy & Year 7 in 2013, to our Orientation Day.  Our prospective Kindy students will enjoy a fun morning (from 9:30am - 11am) and our Year 7 students will enjoy a full day of orientation from 9:30am to 3:00pm.  If you are unable to make it on this day, we encourage you to contact our office after the event and book an informal tour when it suits you.

Central Books, Book Fair @ Heritage Library

Our Library is hosting a Book Fair from Monday, 29 October to Thursday, 15 November. 

The Opening Hours are: 8:30am to 4:00pm.

Come and have a browse - there will be some awesome books available for purchase!




Congratulations to

Isaac McLennan in Year 2!!

Isaac entered the Carpet Court Storybook Challenge Competition and has won the major prize!  Isaac wrote a wonderful short story and has won $250 worth of books for himself, $1000 worth of books for school and a beautiful, colourful rug for the school.

Well done Isaac - what a wonderful acheivement!




"Fizzics" Science Show

Tuesday, 17 October

We have an exciting school "incursion" on 17 October which involves Kindy to Year 12.  Different classes will attend different rooms throughout the school on the day with displays of Lego Robotics, Stars & Planets, Big Science Big Fun, and a Liquid Nitrogen Show.  This day commences at 8:50am for ALL students and promises to be quite a show!




Family Portrait Fundraiser - CANCELLED -

Unfortunately we have had to cancel this proposed fundraiser due to a lack of bookings.




Term 4 Commences

Mon, 8 October


  On Monday, the first day of Term 4, there will be a Full School special assembly in the Woolshed (12noon to 12:45pm) to officially farewell our Year 12 students.




Whole School "MUFTI-DAY"

Fri, 21 Sep (last day T3)

All students from Kindy through to Year 12 can come to school in casual clothes ("mufti") on the last day of school.  Any student dressed in "mufti" must bring a gold-coin donation.  This will be the last day for our Year 12 class of 2012 and all funds raised go towards their Graduation Dinner.

We farewell our Year 12 students - we will all miss you, but pray the best for your future!




Duke of Edinburgh - NZ trip Information Evening - Wed, 19 Sep @ 6:30pm

This information evening is for all parents and students of the Duke of Ed NZ Trip.  Please ensure you are able to attend if your child is participating is attending this trip.

A reminder for parents/caregivers that the final Immunisations for 2012 are coming up.   These are for Year 7 (Gardasil, Hep B & Chicken Pox) and Year 10 (Hep B).  If your child misses this session you can contact the Department of Health directly to catch up.
